For Grace, embarking on her apprenticeship journey was a decision shaped by her passion for customer service. Reflecting on her previous job in a dessert shop, she recalls, “I just loved speaking to everyone – whether it was chatting with customers or phoning people. I knew I wanted a career in a customer service-based environment, and when I saw this job role, it felt perfect for me.”
Grace is currently completing a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship with NCFE as her learning provider. However, her role at Skills4Pharmacy has evolved significantly, offering her new challenges and opportunities for growth. “I started in customer service, but my role has pivoted into more of a talent acquisition specialist. There’s so much room for progression, which is really exciting,” she explains.
She finds immense joy in her apprenticeship. From learning new skills, building relationships with employers and learners, as well as managing her own caseload, she describes it as being ‘amazing’.
The support and opportunities provided by Skills4Pharmacy have played a huge role in Grace’s success. “They’ve given me so many chances to grow in my career. My mentor, Sally, always finds opportunities for me, whether it’s recruitment for the Skills Bootcamp or other tasks. Anytime I’m on a module, Sally is there to help, whether it’s customer service or learning about regulations.”
Of course, like any apprenticeship, the journey isn’t without its challenges. For Grace, the biggest hurdle has been balancing work with the learning aspect. Despite this, Grace credits the support from Skills4Pharmacy, including all her colleagues, for helping her navigate these challenges.
Grace shared that she has no hesitation in recommending apprenticeships to others. “100% go for it. It was the best option for me. I looked at every career path – university, college, a full-time job – but with an apprenticeship, you’re gaining qualifications, life skills, management experience, and earning money. It’s the whole package.”
When asked where she sees herself in five years, Grace’s vision is clear. “Definitely in a recruitment-based role,” she says with confidence.
Grace sums up her apprenticeship experience perfectly: “An apprenticeship is all about learning and growing with plenty of support along the way. You’ve got tutors, mentors, and your employer cheering you on as you build skills and confidence. Plus, there’s loads of room to grow, with opportunities to take your career to the next level.”
Skills4Pharmacy, an Apprenticeship Training Provider, not only trains apprentices but also invests in the career development of its own employees.
