Building a Career Through a Business Administration Apprenticeship

For Jess, choosing an apprenticeship in Business Administration was about more than just gaining a qualification – it was about building a career while learning from industry experts. The opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification made the apprenticeship route the perfect fit.

Since starting her Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, Jess has taken on significant responsibilities at Skills4Pharmacy, including managing the Skills Bootcamp funding process with the support of the team and her manager, Ryan. She finds it particularly rewarding when funding submissions come back approved and error-free, as it reflects the hard work and attention to detail she puts into the process. She also enjoys the collaborative nature of her role, working across different departments and learning from colleagues. “Everyone is accessible and willing to help when needed. I feel confident asking for support, knowing I’m learning from the best people rather than relying on Google or AI.

Balancing work, coursework, and personal life has been a challenge, but Jess remains positive. “It’s a lot of work, but it’s rewarding, and I know it will be worth it in the end.” The flexibility of working both from home and in the office, combined with the ability to complete her apprenticeship online, has made managing these demands more achievable.

Jess’s contributions to Skills4Pharmacy have not gone unnoticed. Her manager, Ryan, highlights her dedication and proactive approach: “Jess consistently demonstrates a proactive approach, readily volunteering to help, learn new skills, and take on additional responsibilities. Her positive attitude makes her a valuable asset to the team, and her contributions to managing and tracking our Skills Bootcamp provision have been essential to its success. Jess is autistic and a strong self-advocate. She understands the nuances of her own experience with autism and proactively seeks support to ensure her work is of the highest standard.

For those considering an apprenticeship, Jess’s advice is simple: “Everyone has to start somewhere, and apprenticeships mean I’m surrounded by people who can support me and provide expertise. I feel I can grow, learn, and develop my career with Skills4Pharmacy.

Looking ahead, Jess hopes to progress into a data-focused role, supporting her own apprentice and contributing to the continued growth of Skills4Pharmacy. Her journey so far is a testament to how apprenticeships can open doors, develop skills, and create opportunities for long-term career success.
